How to checkout and download an EBSCO eBook on your desktop PC

Before you start ... 

Before you can download an EBSCO eBook on your desktop PC, you'll need to do the following: 

  1. Download the eBook reader Adobe Digital Editions.  It's available for free from Adobe.
  2. Download Bluefire Reader.  It's available for free from Bluefire.

Downloading ...

  1. Access the Highline College Library's EBSCO eBook subscription from the Library's website.  
  2. Sign into EBSCO host.  (If you don't already have an account, see the tab in this guide called "Create an EBSCO account" for instructions).
  3. Find the EBSCO eBook you want to read.
  4. Click the blue DOWNLOAD icon.
  5. Select the number of days you'd like to check-out this eBook for.  (The check-out period represents the number of days you'll have access to the book).
  6. Click the yellow DOWNLOAD button.
  7. You should now be prompted to open the eBook in Bluefire Reader or another eBook reader of your choice.  (You can choose to read EBSCO eBooks using Adobe Digital Editions instead of Bluefire Reader if you prefer).
