On March 1, 2016, an Oxford-style debate was held at Yale University campus on the motion: Free Speech Is Threatened On Campus.
Hosted by John Donvan of ABC News and organized by the nonprofit Intelligence Squared, the debate involved two people arguing in favor of the motion -- lawyer and author Wendy Kaminer and professor of linguistics, author, and columnist John McWhorter -- and two people arguing against the motion -- professor of philosophy and author Jason Stanley and professor of education and public policy, scholar of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and author Shaun Harper.
About Oxford-style Debate: "The Oxford-style debate format involves a debate on a predetermined statement – also called a 'motion' – from two opposing perspectives. The two sides either argue “for” or “against” the motion within a formalized structure," according to OpenToDebate.org.
