8/17/23 - We are not currently offering online research consultations. They will start again September 25, 2023, at the beginning of fall quarter. In the meantime, you can come into the library for an in person consultation. Please check our hours.
Research Consultations offer 30 minute individual or small group meetings with a reference librarian who can help you develop research strategies based on your research questions and information needs. Need help immediately? Try our 24/7 chat and email service.
During consultations, we can help with:
In-person in the library. Librarians are available to provide in-person consultations at the library Reference Desk on a first come, first served basis when the library is open (click here to see our current building hours). You do not need to schedule an appointment. We can complete a consultation form for you to submit to your instructor if required.
Online via Zoom. Please use our research consultation booking tool to schedule a 30 minute virtual research consultation with a librarian.
Consultations provide one-on-one, in-depth research sessions, not quick answers. Students with quick questions will be served more efficiently by asking them at the reference desk in the library, emailing us, or using the chat feature.
Often, students run into problems when they have both a Highline College Google account (@students.highline.edu) and a personal one (@gmail.com). The easiest thing to do in this case is to open your browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and then open a Private or Incognito window. In Firefox, click File and choose New Private Window. In Chrome, click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the browser and choose New Incognito Window.
Once you have that new private or incognito window open, return to this page and click the Schedule a Consultation icon. Then, log in with your Highline College Google account. You shouldn’t have any problems after that, but if you do, please email your Librarians at refhelp@highline.edu.
