Consultations

Before the Consultation

Before your consultation, review the directions for your research paper assignment. Prepare your research-related questions for the librarian. Some typical questions are about the following concepts:

  • Keyword Searches -- What words to use while you search
  • Refining Research Question or Statement
  • Citation and Documentation of Sources (MLA, APA, and other citation styles)
  • Source Assessment (Determining Reliability of Sources) -- Web sites, articles, or books
  • Database Use/Selection - Which database is right for your research topic?
  • Using Generative AI Tools Ethically and Effectively
  • Online Searching -- How to be efficient and effective using a online search engines

 

During the Consultation

For in-person consultations:

We will work together at the reference desk for our consultation. We can use your laptop or a library computer.

For virtual consultations:

Find a time and a place to spend 30 minutes talking with a librarian on Zoom. Be prepared to view the librarian's screen and/or share your screen if possible. 

After the Consultation

After our consultation, we can e-mail you and your instructor a signed copy of our online consultation form.
