One Search FAQ

What is One Search?

One Search is Highline College's search platform that aggregates most of the library’s electronic and print resources, making them all searchable at the same time from one central location. The purpose of One Search is to streamline your research process.

What can I search using One Search?

One Search allows you to find items in the Library Catalog and most of the databases we subscribe to. When you search using One Search, you will find books, articles, videos, and more.

How do I search One Search?

Enter keywords in the single search box just as you would when searching the web with Google or Bing or DuckDuckGo. It's not unusual for searches to return thousands of results, but you can refine your search using the options on the left side of your results screen, such as content type, subject or date. For a more specific search, use the Advanced Search option. Check out the video at the top of this page for more information on using One Search.

Does it include everything that the library owns?

One Search does not search all databases that Highline College Library subscribes to. Some databases are not included due to publisher restrictions. Those databases can be searched as separate resources on the Databases A-Z list.
