Know Before You Go: Updates to the Highline College Library

Welcome back, Thunderbirds! The Highline College Library (Building 25 - 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors) is open (see our schedule for in-person hours and dates).  We can’t wait to see you again! Some things will be a little different than before the pandemic, so thanks for taking a minute to review this important information to help you prepare for your first visit. Understanding these new requirements will save you time and help keep our Highline community safe!

 

library building Library services and study spaces are available on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floor of the library.

 

 

 

 

maskMasks are recommended. If you forgot a mask, please ask for one at the Circulation or Reference desk.

 

 

 

drink cupFood and beverages are allowed in all areas of the library building. Please be respectful of all library building rooms, material, furniture, and other users by:

  • using sturdy beverage containers with secure lids
  • reporting any spillage or trash to library building staff immediately
  • disposing of all food and beverage garbage before leaving the library (pack it in, pack it out)
  • recycling clean plastic, paper, cans

 

please return your library booksCourse Reserve materials are available at the Circulation Desk for 2-hours, in-library use only.

  • Graphing calculators are available for quarterly rental. Find rental information
  • Anatomical models are available for 2-hours, in-library student use in the library
  • Some course textbooks are available depending on whether the instructor provided one

 

 

open signThe library has reduced hours/days, so be sure to check the library building hours FIRST before visiting.

customer serviceYou can get help with just about ANYTHING through our online services – we have expanded our online help capabilities, so whether you need help with research strategies, searching for reliable information, citations, or graphing calculator rentals -- just ASK US. Questions about writing? Contact the Highline Online Writing Center. Questions about campus technology lending? Contact Information Technology Services. 

  

calendarYou’ll need to make an appointment for some services. 

While the Circulation and Reference desks will be open with staff for walk-up service, other services, including virtual research consultations, will require an appointment.

 

 

hand washingCleaning supplies will be available in all public spaces.

  • Remember to wash your hands and/or use sanitizer before and after touching “high touch” equipment like public computers, print stations, and after touching your mask.

  • Students can clean computer keyboards with Library-provided sanitization supplies–please only use the supplies provided by the Library as other types of cleaning products (i.e. your own personal wipes/cleaners) could damage computers.
