Keynote Address with Q&A: Lynae Vanee
"If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose." This is an amazing quote that puts what you do with your time and energy in perspective. What is the one thing you stay up late to make time for? What is the one thing that gives you that extra burst of energy, even when you’re exhausted? Loving what you do each day is not a fairytale, it’s not out of reach and it’s not a possibility for only a select few. Everyone can use their unique talents and interests to become successful. Together, we will explore how to turn your passion into purpose.

We are constantly being influenced by other people, the media, and our past experiences. Who and what influences you? What influence do you have or seek to have? What does it mean to remember our power? By remembering who we are and remembering our power, we can reclaim what is influencing us and our influence on others. This will be a time to be creative through the art of writing! There will be time to reflect, write, and share amongst your peers.

In a world increasingly dominated by social media, it can be easy to forget the importance of face-to-face interaction. While social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram have their benefits, they can also lead to a sense of disconnection from the people and world around us. Studies have shown that excessive social media use can lead to feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression. In some cases, it can even contribute to negative body image and self-esteem issues. However, by disconnecting from social media, we can begin to reconnect with the people and things that truly matter in our lives. We can develop a stronger sense of connection and belonging by investing time in real-life relationships.
In this workshop you will learn more about Tara Yosso's Community Cultural Wealth and how it connects to our identities and the cultural wealth communities of color have.
