Information Literacy
Information literate people are "prepared for lifelong learning because they can always find the information needed for any task or decision at hand (ALA)."  Information literacy is about understanding how knowledge is organized, and knowing how to find and use credible information effectively.  This page is a portal to resources supporting integration of information and visual literacy into the curriculum.

This "toolkit" includes sample assessment rubrics, web evaluation guides, information literacy rich assignments and courses produced by Highline faculty members, and more.

Easy to use online tutorials on effective database searching, identifying scholarly articles, web evaluation, and more.

We promote information literacy at Highline by working in partnership with departmental faculty to develop and provide instruction that is tailored to course requirements and assignments.

Sometimes the best evidence of information and visual literacy can be found in student-generated projects, games, resource pages, etc.

Subject Guides are a good place to begin your research.  Each Guide suggests key resources in the specific discipline or subject area.

Want to become an information professional?  Highline offers a program that can get you started toward this career.
