Request course reserves at the Plaza Circulation counter on the 2nd floor by call number. To find the call number, check the course reserve list in the library catalog.
Course reserves are materials chosen by instructors to support class instruction. The materials are maintained in a separate location within the Circulation Services department, and access to the material is more restricted than access to items in general circulation. In order to access reserve materials, students must use their student identification cards.
The purpose of a reserve collection is to:
1. support the needs of a defined group of patrons within the college (usually a class)
2. provide timely, convenient, and efficient access to high-demand materials
These are reprints (journal articles, book chapters, course readings and other works with less than 30 pages) provided by the instructor. These items are electronically scanned in pdf format and accessed via the Internet. Electronic Reserves allow students to access readings from home.
Instructors may place books (personal or belonging to the library), journal articles, book chapters, and other miscellaneous outside readings on reserve for their students to access for a specified length of time.
Library, personal, or department-owned copies of legally-acquired multimedia materials may also be placed on reserve in the Library. The Library adheres strictly to current copyright law governing multimedia copying, distribution and use. Copies of television shows, VHS or DVDs are not allowed to be placed on reserve.
The contact person for Reserves is Gerie Ventura. If you have any questions regarding course reserves, email libcirc@highline.edu or call 206-878-3710, Extension 3234.
